radio shimmy podcast: train songs

my first podcast deals with where i'd like to be on most cold days:
on a train heading out of town!
download: 128k mp3 (36.7mb // 40min)
Full track list below...all music recorded from vinyl !
Extra train sounds/FX from "Steamtown USA" EP on Semaphore...
setlist:
Johnny Burnette Rock'n'Roll Trio - The Train Kept A'Rollin' - rockabilly classic from 80's reissue LP. Both Burnette brothers, Johnny and Dorsey, went on to pop hits (the former with "You're Sixteen, You're Beautiful and You're Mine")...
The Golden Nugget - Gospel Train - great Gospel-Soul from a Cotillion Religious 45... Found this one in a huge collection of promos in Portugal !
Quinteto Academico - Train - 60's group from the new comp, Portuguese Nuggets Volume 1... available through the web, great comp with surf, psych, beat, etc. and full liner notes and pics! This bunch was from Porto.
The Kingsmen - Night Train - Jazz/Rock standard from the Louie Louie LP on Wand... the original mono LP, supposedly "live" but definitely the band in the studio with overdubbed handclaps!

Johnny Cash - I Heard that Lonesome Whistle Blow - from his first Sun LP ("... and his Hot and Blue Guitar") -- this one's stereo, but the mix isn't that bad, considering it was done way back in '56 !
Gabriel - Mystery Train - an obscure 45 on the even more obscure Krszyta label, produced by Scotty Moore, a longtime Elvis collaborator and all-around Memphis scenester.
Rufus Thomas - Memphis Train - Stax, '65 (?) - Classic and popular with the Mods.
Baroques - Musical Tribute to the Oscar Meyer Weiner Wagon - Great garage-psych on Chess from '68... LP as a whole is pretty decent, with the first track, "Iowa- a Girl's Name" being another standout...
Allen Toussaint - Last Train - from his Southern Nights LP ('74 on Reprise), backed up by the Meters... all of his solo stuff from the 70's is brilliant; this LP is no exception...
John Cale - Half Past France - from the LP Paris 1919 (also '74) ... my favorite of his records.

The Pentangle - Train Song - from the Basket of Light LP, the best by this UK folk/jazz/prog group.
